Slot Maintains He Feels Safe and Has The Club's Backing Following PSV Defeat

Arne Slot conceded that it's expected for questions to be raised about his position after a further heavy loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their 9th loss in 12 matches, marking the team's worst streak since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league champions on a difficult evening at Anfield.

“I'm confident, I'm fine, I have got a lot of support from management,” Slot stated.

“It would be nice to turn it around and get a victory of course but if you are coaching a team and underperforming then it is normal that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I am OK with my situation. It is not the first time I've found myself in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we turned it around.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his conversations with the club's leadership, Slot explained:

“We talk a lot. They are helpful for the squad and for me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me all the time each day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “Through standard discussions I perceive the belief. However I've not talked to them after this match yet so it remains to be seen.”

Persistent Issues and Squad Reaction

The manager expressed regret over recurring failings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League loss, namely wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more forthright in his view of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the solutions. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder stated.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don't need to wait to reflect. I’m past feeling anger inside. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the words.”

He added, “It's tough because I play for the club I love. I support them, and I've watched Liverpool for years.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team going through a spell such as this with outcomes like these.”

He concluded, “However we still have that badge on our chest. And until it is removed, we will always battle.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad back to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all once more the values of this club and the reason it's called the greatest side in the world.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
